About SchlOSCE
SchlOSCE provides premade 10-station mock finals OSCE circuits, designed to be run under examination conditions: 2 minutes of reading time followed by 10 minutes in each station.
The stations are set at the upper limit of difficulty expected in an undergraduate CPSA, and are intended for the final stages of revision before sitting finals, for candidates aiming to achieve the highest marks. Stations are deliberately time-pressured, and candidates should not be discouraged if they are unable to complete every task.
Running a circuit. Each circuit is best run in a group of three. One person acts as the candidate and completes all 10 stations, replicating a genuine OSCE circuit. The second plays the patient using the Actor brief, and the third examines using the Mark Scheme. Three circuits are available, so each member of the group can attempt a circuit as the candidate without prior exposure.
The Guide. Each station includes a Guide setting out its aims and the teaching notes for the topic. It should be reviewed after the station has finished.
The print pack. The print pack should be prepared before the circuit begins. For each station it contains the candidate brief, to be placed outside the station so the candidate reads it just as they would in the examination, together with any in-station materials such as drug charts, ECGs, radiographs and clinical images. On screen, the actor and examiner can move between sections using keys 1 to 4.
